The bakery next door is also fantastic. Our room, Salmide, was amazing.
It had everything we needed, the bed was extremely comfortable and the surprise view of the cathedral was fantastic. The host was very friendly and the communication was excellent throughout. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a hour front desk, and luggage storage.
Pros : The bed was comfortable and the room was clean but we were not told that this is a training facility for hospitality students. With that in mind you might expect higher than average service? No, just swarms of students in front of the building and rushing down hallways to make classes, posters on walls and doors re: curriculum and advertising careers. Although the staff at reception were polite and accommodating, It was an unexpected experience. Cons : The hotel is not in a pretty part of the town.
Next time we will opt for closer to the Villiage center, within walking distance to the better restaurants, the fountains and markets.
A poor man's two weeks in Gironde eBook: Brian Leaney, Family Friends: daythrougpuihardve.ml: Kindle Store. A humoured account of family and friends travelling across France, encountering the hotels, food and their experience of a two week stay in a Gite in the Gironde.
Pros : Wonderful friendly staff and great location. Walking or using the tram into the city was easy and enjoyable. Good cafes around the hotel and not too far to town for numerous restaurants and life, and sightseeing. Cons : Next door is some sort of sewerage and so you can get whiffs quite regularly when outside the hotel. The hotel is aligned with the local teaching college for the hospitality industry.
As a consequence, the front of house staff and people we dealt with were young, from different countries and very enthusiastic. Just delightful and very hospitable. The room was very comfortable. A lovely bathroom, with generous proportions. A comfortable bed. Very well priced. We visited in August, so a lot of local restaurants were closed. The front of house staff gave us a very good recommendation, for a local restaurant, that was open, near by.
Pros : The breakfast was very good and the presentation was beautiful. The location was perfect as we were taking a Viking cruise and we were able to just walk across the street to meet our ship. The staff was very friendly. Our experience could not have been better! Pros : The hotel was in good location and the room was modern and spacious with good aircon.
The breakfast ordering system made breakfast in your room as a standard offer, which was nice treat. Cons : The parking was not so easy as the ticket system didn't work for us and there was some confusion. Pros : The hotel provides an individual breakfast for each person based on their preferences which was excellent. So much nicer than the usual Buffett. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Handy for the tram but quiet. Cons : One of our rooms had a very distinct smell of the drains which was unpleasant. Cons : Bottle of water to drink was opened ,room near the road just heard so many noises.
Pros : The hotel was Eeco friendly. Staffs were very polite. Cons : The breakfast ordering system was not for us.
Nor was the actual breakfast itself. Pros : Quiet, clean hotel with perfect location to visit La Rochelle. Cons : Rooms were rather small which is a shame as we were supposedly upgraded. Residhome Bordeaux. Pros : We were delighted with the Residhome, which definitely exceeded our expectations. We had a quiet room overlooking roof garden at the rear. Room, bathroom and kitchen space were all immaculately clean, and very well-equipped. We spent 2 nights here on our way home from renting an apartment in Biarritz, and the Residhome kitchen space was far better equipped and cleaner than in that more expensive apartment.
All staff whom we met spoke fluent English, and were very friendly and efficient. Car parking under the building ask in advance for directions to reach it! Tram line very quiet and efficient runs past the door every five minutes or so, and takes you to city centre in 5 minutes.
Garonne river and spectacular bridge are just across the road, lots of cafes along riverside. Excellent location. We fully intend to return for a longer stay in the next few months. Cons : Difficult to think of anything - maybe a slightly more powerful shower, if that is possible?
chilladipa.ga Pros : Great location, a relaxing walk along the riverside or short tram ride to the centre of this historic city. Well appointed apartment and friendly, helpful staff. Will definitely return. Cons : The staff on reception were very rude and miserable, not helpful at all after me driving all the way from England, everything seemed to be a problem to them. Also very noisy, could hear a lot of outside noise. Pros : From the fifth floor we had a great view of the bridge opening to allow the cruise ships through. Cons : Our room was right on the street ground floor level which felt like we were on the street.
Also no cloth or washing up liquid etc or basic things for a short term apartment for holiday makers and quilt on bed would be great if you were in Sweden in December.
Pros : Great location. A small one bedroom unit with cooking facilities. Pros : The location and of ease of travel from the airport - shuttle and then tram stop across the street was excellent and cost efficient. Did not have breakfast or eat at local restaurants so cannot comment. Stroll to Cite de Vin and along river. Excellent location! Small table and chair folded up in the closet. Best Western Grand Hotel Francais. At the Best Western Grand Hotel Francais, quiet and comfortable fully-renovated 18th century mansion, you will enjoy the heart of Bordeaux, registered at the world heritage by UNESCO, its business center and cultural life.
Our location is superb. Pros : Very central location and within walking distance of most sights. Or you can take tram or riverboat. The hotel has recently been renovated to a high standard Rooms of standard size rather than large Very good breakfasts from freshly squeezed orange juice to local pastries and usual fruits and cooked breakfast Staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons : Nothing in particular. If there were English news programmes on tv we didn't find them. One of the two showers a bit temperamental. Pros : superb quiet central location Amazing generous breakfast Helpful courteous staff Room and hotel provided all necessary amenities. Pros : There was a wide choice of food for breakfast which was tasty and plenty to eat.
The location was brilliant as it was only a few mins walk from tourist spots. It was also quiet both inside and out as it was located in a small street. The staff were very helpful and spoke English! The shower was brilliant too.
Cons : The only thing I didn't like was the small lift particularly with large bags. Pros : Amazing location in old town. All pedestrian areas. Highly recommend!!!
Pros : Well above expectations all the way around but the breakfast was spectacular! Never seen an included breakfast so lavish!! Breakfast was not only delicious but plentiful with every food group represented in abondance. Decor was adorable, cozy, and tasteful. What a pleasant surprise! Pros : The entrance to the hotel was lovely with a delightful grand staircase. The staff were friendly and happy to help when there was an issue.
Cons : The bedroom was a little disappointing as the decor looked as if it was trying to be modern but which already looked tired. Our bathroom smelt of pee when we got there and required a second round of cleaning.
